Edge Lane Roads are an easy concept to grasp. But some details are challenging given the facility's novel approach of allowing two-way vehicular traffic to share a travel lane. High-level design guidance is provided by the FHWA Small Town and Rural Multimodal Networks guide but this document ignores decades and thousands of road-kilometers of experience gained in other countries.
